Good Move

Was just watching the news when they played a story about how the pope just announced that the catholic church will no longer allow pedophiles to be priests.

Really?

Only just now?

These guys are quick.

And how do they know?
By asking?
Or just asuming that anybody who wants to be a Catholic prest is one.

My first thought was, "Excellent!" But about two seconds later I though, "What was that, 10 years?" In reality, that should have been the first press release on the matter. By this point we should be well into the church handing over records and appointing special compliance teams to help the authorities prosecute.

But we all know the Vatican is slow. It took 2000 years to get to the point where people with aids in Africa are allowed to use condoms if they are already married and have kids.

The Catholic Church hasn't exactly been the vanguard of social, scientific, political or sexual innovation for at least, oh, several hundred years.

What I don't understand is the Pope Mobile. I mean, I thought protecting the pope was God's job?
